Step-by-step guide

How to install your eSIM

Two short stages: install ahead at home before the flight, then switch it on when you land. Pick your phone type below.

Install ahead, at home The plan's days start only abroad Never delete the eSIM Most data goes in the background

The plan's days start on your first connection abroad - not at purchase, not at install.

So install early. Days in advance is fine, and you lose nothing.

It's a digital line in your phone's settings, next to your Israeli SIM. Turning it off and on is safe and reversible.

Never delete it - that is permanent. Deleted by mistake? Message us right away and we'll check whether it can be re-issued.

1At home, before the flight

About five minutes, best on Wi-Fi. Installing does not start the plan and counts no days.

iPhone (iOS)

Easiest path on iPhone: tap the install button in the email we send. The steps below are the manual alternative.
1
Settings › Cellular › Add eSIM
2
Choose "Use QR Code" and scan the code from the email (or tap the one-tap button)
3
Name the line - e.g. "My Trip" - and finish

Android (Samsung, Pixel, and others)

1
Settings › Network & internet › SIMs (Samsung: Connections › SIM manager)
2
Tap "Add SIM" then "Set up an eSIM" (Samsung: "Add eSIM" / "Download a SIM instead"), then scan the QR from another screen - or paste the install code from your order page
3
Confirm the download and turn the line on

No camera scan available? Every order also includes manual codes (SM-DP+ and activation code) you can type in by hand.

2When you land, at the destination

This is where the plan starts. Five steps, about a minute.

iPhone (iOS)

1
Settings › Cellular › tap the new line ("My Trip") › turn ON "Turn On This Line"
2
On the same screen turn ON "Data Roaming" - without it there's no connection at all
3
Back on the "Cellular" screen › tap your home line › turn "Turn On This Line" OFF - no roaming charges. Then check "Cellular Data" shows the new line. Switch your home line back on when you land home
4
Inside the new line › "Network Selection" › make sure "Automatic" is ON
5
Test: turn WiFi off for a moment - when 4G/5G shows next to the signal and a website loads, you're connected. Not catching? Airplane mode for 10 seconds, then restart if needed

Android (Samsung, Pixel, and others)

1
Settings › Network & internet › SIMs (Samsung: Connections › SIM manager) › turn ON the eSIM line
2
On the same screen, under "Mobile data" pick the new line - not your home line
3
Switch your home SIM OFF - no roaming charges. Switch it back on when you land home
4
Turn roaming ON on the eSIM line itself: SIMs › the new line › "Roaming" (Samsung: Connections › Mobile networks › "Data Roaming") - without it there is no connection at all. Leave "Network selection" (Samsung: "Network operators") on "Select automatically"
5
Test: turn WiFi off for a moment - when 4G/5G shows next to the signal and a website loads, you're connected. Not catching? Airplane mode for 10 seconds, then restart if needed
Data only. The eSIM has no phone number, so regular calls and SMS don't go through it.
WhatsApp keeps working as usual, with your Israeli number, over the eSIM's data.
Don't re-verify WhatsApp - there's no need, and a verification SMS can't reach the eSIM.

So the plan lasts the whole trip

Most plans empty on what the phone does by itself - cloud photo backup, background apps, auto-downloaded media. Each switch below takes seconds; do them at home, on Wi-Fi.

iPhone (iOS)

1
Cloud photo backup: Settings › Photos › "Cellular Data" › off. A short 4K clip is 100-200MB, and one day of shooting swallows a gigabyte. Backup resumes on its own the moment there's Wi-Fi
2
Background app refresh: Settings › General › "Background App Refresh" › Wi-Fi only. WhatsApp messages keep arriving - push notifications travel on a separate, tiny channel
3
Wi-Fi Assist: Settings › Cellular › scroll to the bottom › off. Hotel and cafe Wi-Fi is almost always weak, and this setting quietly moves you onto the plan exactly when you thought you were on the wireless network
4
WhatsApp: Settings › Storage and data › "Media auto-download" › on cellular › No media. By default every image sent in a group downloads even if you never opened it

Android (Samsung, Pixel, and others)

1
Cloud photo backup: Photos app › profile picture › Backup settings › "Cell data usage" › off. A short 4K clip is 100-200MB, and backup resumes on its own on Wi-Fi
2
Data Saver: Settings › Network & internet › "Data Saver" › on (Samsung: Connections › Data usage). It holds back the dozens of apps that wake up through the day; WhatsApp messages still arrive
3
App updates: Play Store › profile picture › Settings › Network preferences › "Auto-update apps" › "Over Wi-Fi only". A single update runs from 20MB to about 300MB
4
WhatsApp: Settings › Storage and data › "Media auto-download" › on cellular › No media. By default every image sent in a group downloads even if you never opened it
Before the flight, on Wi-Fi: download the offline map of the city in Google Maps (search the city › "Download") - it works with no signal at all and navigation then costs almost nothing. Streaming is the other big one: an hour of video is 1-3GB, so watch and download on hotel Wi-Fi. The full guide - what burns a plan without you noticing

If something's not working

Restart the phone - this fixes about 80% of cases. Then go to Settings › Cellular (Network & internet) › Network Selection and pick a network manually.

Make sure cellular data AND data roaming are both ON for the new line specifically (not the Israeli line).

On iPhone use the one-tap install button in the email. On Android enter the install code manually, or open the QR on another screen and scan it from there.

Check the spam folder, then recover your order-page link on the find-my-eSIM page. Recover my eSIM

Common questions about installing

The day before the flight, at home on Wi-Fi. Installing does not start the plan - the clock begins only on the first connection at the destination - so you can install ahead without losing a single day.

Yes, completely normal. After installing at home there's still no data because the line isn't switched on and you're not at the destination yet. Data starts when you land, turn on the new line and enable data roaming on it.

Not with the camera, and you don't need to. On iPhone the email carries a one-tap install button that works on that same phone. On Android, copy the install code from your order page and paste it into manual entry (Settings › SIMs › Add SIM › Set up an eSIM; Samsung: Add eSIM), or open the QR on a second screen and scan it from there.

Almost never from browsing itself, but from what the phone does on its own: cloud photo backup (a short 4K clip is 100-200MB), background app refresh, media auto-downloading in WhatsApp groups, app updates and social-media video pre-loading. Four switches in Settings stop most of it - they're listed above under "So the plan lasts the whole trip".

Never delete the eSIM from the device. Turning it off and on is reversible and safe, but deleting removes the line permanently. Deleted by mistake? Message us right away and we'll check whether the plan can be re-issued (not always possible).
