Which phones support eSIM?

Most phones from recent years have a built-in eSIM chip. Exact models in the list below.
A phone locked to a specific carrier won't accept a foreign eSIM. Phones bought in Israel in recent years usually aren't locked.
Every iPhone from the iPhone XS / XR (2018) onward supports eSIM, including all of the 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 lines. The only exception is the original iPhone SE (2016) - SE models from 2020 on do support it. US iPhones from the 14 series on are eSIM-only with no physical SIM tray - which makes no difference for travel data.
Android is more varied. Supported: Samsung Galaxy S20 and up (plus Note20, Z Fold/Flip), Google Pixel 3 and up (except some early 'a' models), and most flagship Xiaomi, OPPO, Motorola and Huawei phones from 2021 on. Budget and older models often don't support it - so check your exact model.

On iPhone: Settings › General › About › "Carrier Lock" should read "No SIM restrictions". On Android check Settings or ask where you bought the phone. Most phones bought in Israel aren't locked.

With two physical slots you can use a local SIM in the second slot, but an eSIM is still more convenient: bought and installed from home, no kiosk queue and no pulling out your Israeli SIM.
