TL;DR: Flights from Ben Gurion to Eilat depart from Terminal 1 and land at Ramon Airport, 19 km north of Eilat. Arkia and Israir operate the route. According to Arkia the flight takes 35 minutes, and according to Israir up to about an hour. From Ramon to Eilat there are Egged buses (lines 30 and 50), metered taxis and rental cars. Israir sells residents of Eilat and the Eilot region a ticket at 99 ILS each way.
At Ben Gurion
According to the Israel Airports Authority, since 28 June 2026 flights to Ramon depart from Terminal 1, and flights from Ramon land there. The terminal of each flight is shown on the departures board.
When to Arrive
According to the Israel Airports Authority, for a domestic flight passengers arrive two hours before take-off, and no later than one hour before take-off. At the security check one ID is shown: an Israeli ID card, an Israeli driver's license, an IDF soldier or officer ID card, a police ID card, a passport or laissez-passer, or an Alfa card. Both airlines offer online check-in.
The Flight
- Flight time: 35 minutes according to Arkia. Up to about an hour according to Israir.
- Aircraft: Arkia says it flies the route on Airbus aircraft with 220 seats. Israir sold the two ATR aircraft it flew on the Eilat route in 2023, and its whole fleet has been Airbus since.
- Food and drink: According to Israir, only water is served on its domestic flights. According to Arkia, the in-flight service does not include meals, snacks or drinks, unless stated otherwise when booking.
Ramon Airport
The airport is named after Ilan and Assaf Ramon. According to the Israel Airports Authority, on 18 March 2019 the activity of Eilat's old airport moved to it. It is 19 km north of Eilat, next to Highway 90, and according to Israir the drive into the city is about 20 minutes.
Ramon to Eilat
Bus
Egged lines 30 and 50 run from Ramon to Eilat. According to the National Public Transport Authority's route planner (28.9.2026), the ride to Eilat takes 32 to 41 minutes. Fares and times are in the route planner. According to the Israel Airports Authority, there is an Egged service counter in the airport's Reception Hall.
Taxi
According to the Israel Airports Authority, a taxi fare is determined solely by the meter, under the Ministry of Transport's price supervision order. The fare can be estimated in advance with the National Public Transport Authority's taxi fare calculator.
Rental Car
According to the Israel Airports Authority, three companies operate at the airport: Albar, Shlomo Sixt and Budget. Cars are collected at the rental counter in the Arrivals Hall and returned at the "Har Amram" parking lot at the entrance to the terminal.
Return from Eilat
According to the Israel Airports Authority, for a domestic flight from Ramon passengers arrive about an hour and a half before departure. The flight lands at Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion.
